Kaleidoscope is a fusion of poetry by Shanil Samarakoon and photography by Massimo Rumi, Natalie Soysa and Dev Singh. The 26 poems featured in the collection are mirrors and the accompanying photographs are the beads that dance in concert to tell stories of childhood, love, hope and despair.

This compilation of poems and short stories was written between 2007 and 2013. It is a deeply personal work that chronicles a profound shift in my thinking. The tragic loss of my father, my bitter-sweet experiences with love and my clashes with ego were fuel for a deep depression. One that I gradually woke from through deep introspection and an examination of my purpose.These pages present the essence of this journey, written… not in retrospect, but as I felt my way through it.
Whisperings was my first compilation of poems and is focused on capturing the essence of my journey towards adulthood. It covers the romance of my childhood in Southern Africa, the angst of teenage years in Sri Lanka and a period of deep introspection as I attended University in the aftermath of the 2004 Tsunami. I feel that this collection of works represents a key period of maturation as an individual and hence, as a writer. It colours a ‘coming of age’ story through 22 poems.
